Eden Hazard's brilliant double helped Chelsea see off a spirited Sunderland to avoid losing ground on Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Jozy Altidore gave the Black Cats the lead on 14 minutes when he latched onto Jack Colback's lofted pass into the area, but Frank Lampard's header brought the Blues level three minutes later.
Hazard curled past Vito Mannone to give the visitors the lead before John O'Shea's 50th minute equalizer, but the classy Belgian struck again before a Phil Bardsley own goal sealed the points, despite Bardsley's late consolation.
