One of the students who was roughed up by four Alabama football players in on-campus attacks says that despite his injuries he still loves the school and will remain a big Crimson Tide fan.

"This was just a matter of chance," Samuel Jergens told the Crimson White, the student newspaper. "I'm still gonna love Alabama football. I just want to deal with this case, move on with my life.

"I just want to get on with my education. I want to continue being happy here. I was happy here before, and I will continue being happy here."

Eddie Williams, D.J. Pettway, Tyler Hayes and Brent Calloway were arested Monday after the incidents involving Jergens and another Alabama student who was punched in the face and had his wallet stolen. All four players were suspended from the team on Tuesday by coach Nick Saban.

Jergens was walking home and listening to music when the players asked him for a lighter. After he refused, "they punched me, they kicked me in my back, in my ribs. I would definitely classify it as excessive."

He lost consciousness and was bleeding profusely before waking up and calling for help. His backpack was gone.

"His left side of his face was gigantic," a friend, Chris Burks, said. "The jacket he was wearing and his headphones were completely drenched in blood, the bottom half of his face was completely covered in blood. He was bleeding badly from his lip. He had clearly been badly beaten."

Williams, Hayes and Pettway were each charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, and Calloway was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card.
