Here are some suggestions for streaming pitchers in Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball for Week 9 (June 4 - 10th). All players are available to pick up off the waiver wires in a majority of fantasy leagues:
Available in 99 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues, Rangers pitcher Scott Feldman is worth a spot-start against the Oakland A's, the worst offense in the major leagues. Behind the top-ranked Texas offense, look for Feldman (0-3, 4.50 ERA) to earn the win against Jarrod Parker (1-2, 2.88 ERA) and the Athletics in a low scoring affair.
Just last Tuesday (May 29th), Homer Bailey pitched a complete game against the Pirates, giving up only one run on four hits and struck out five batters on the day. There is no reason to expect anything different this time around against the Pirates on June 5th. Bailey is available in 85 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and should be streamed for this start against a weak Pirates offense.
Stepping into the starting role for the Phillies (after Roy Halladay was placed on the disabled list), Kyle Kendrick will look to dominate against the Matt Kemp-less Los Angeles Dodgers. Kendrick has won his last two starts (including a complete game shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals). Kendrick is available in 94 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and is an outstanding streaming option against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on June 6th.
To quote legendary comedian Rodney Dangerfield, Indians starting pitcher Derek Lowe "gets no respect". How is it possible that a 7-3 pitcher with a 3.06 ERA is still available in 70 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues? Even if you are not a believer, a spot-start against Casey Crosby (0-1, 16.20 ERA) and the Detroit Tigers should pay dividends for fantasy owners on Thursday, June 7th.
In a matchup that consists of a mediocre Royals offense and an inconsistent Luke Hochevar, Erik Bedard clearly has the upper-hand in this Friday evening matchup. Bedard has a 3.72 ERA, 56 strikeouts, and will get the win if the Pirates offense can at least score a few runs for him. Bedard is available in 57 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues.
Coming off a complete-game shutout of the San Diego Padres, Diamondbacks pitcher Trevor Cahill is poised to pitch another gem against another weak offense at a pitchers park: Oakland. Cahill is available in more than half of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball leagues and is a solid option for this June 9th matchup. If Cahill is not available in your league, another good streaming choice is Mariners' Kevin Millwood in a home start against the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers. Millwood may not get the win against fantasy stud Clayton Kershaw, but a good start with a low ERA, WHIP, and potential for 6-8 strikeouts is a reasonable expectation for fantasy owners. Millwood is available in 90 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
Sunday, June 10th: A.J. Burnett (Pittsburgh Pirates) at Cincinnati Reds
The 14-year veteran A.J. Burnett is having a terrific season for the Pirates (4-2, 3.60 ERA, 42 strikeouts in eight starts) and looked great in his victory over the same Reds team on May 30th, giving up no earned runs on two hits in seven innings. If you throw out his 12 earned-run disaster in St. Louis on May 2nd, Burnett has not allowed more than two earned runs in seven starts and no earned runs in his last two games. Burnett is available in 70 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
