Strasburg on target to make next start

The SportsXchange

Washington Nationals right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg will throw a bullpen session on Monday after not having any issues playing catch on Sunday. If all goes well, then Strasburg is expected to make his next start Thursday against the Miami Marlins.

"He's fine," manager Davey Johnson said after the Nationals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday."Felt really good."

The 25-year-old Strasburg had complained of a right forearm issue and missed his regular start on Friday. Team doctors examined Strasburg. He was prescribed anti-inflammatory medicine and told to rest.

According to The Washington Post, Strasburg was experimenting with new grips on a pitch and playing catch on Thursday when he felt an "irritation" and was told to rest.

Strasburg is 7-9 with an ERA of 2.96 in 28 starts this season.
