Steve Stricker: In Match Play Field After Battling Back Injury

Update: Stricker, who's in the field this week for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, has not played since the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions because of a herniated C5 disc, PGATour.com reports.

Recommendation: He finished third at the TOC despite pain that crept down his leg and into his foot. Afterward, an MRI showed the disc problem. Therapy and a cortisone shot have him feeling good enough to return to the tour this week. Stricker, who announced late last season that he would scale back his 2013 schedule, said Tuesday the remainder of his schedule would include the three majors in the U.S., as well as The Players Championship, likely the Shell Houston Open and the John Deere Classic, which he has won three times. He also does not plan to play in the FedEx Cup.
