Dolphins OG Steinbach to retire

The offensive line, which struggled to protect the quarterback last season, will move to a zone-blocking look under Joe Philbin. Earlier in July, C Mike Pouncey said the group can handle the new scheme. “Last year we were a power team, but all of our guys can move,” he said on WQAM radio in Miami. Pouncey is one of the top players up front, along with OLT Jake Long and OLG Richie Incognito, it’s the right side of the line that will be sorted out in training camp. This week, the Dolphins added veteran OG Eric Steinbach to the fold. Steinbach did not play last season because of a back injury and will compete with third-year OG John Jerry and veteran Artis Hicks for the starting ORG spot. Steinbach’s size (6-6, 295 pounds) fits Philbin’s mold for the zone-blocking O-line. “He’s an athletic guy and we feel like he still has the ability to run,” Philbin told reporters. “We think he is a good fit schematically.”
