Offensive guard Willie Colon was informed Wednesday that he will be released with a June 1 designation, which saves the Pittsburgh Steelers $5.5 million against the 2013 salary cap. The delay pushes all of the dead money in the deal to the 2014 cap, resulting in a charge of $4.29 million. Colon has missed 20 games in the past two seasons and all of the 2010 season because of injuries. He had two years remaining on his contract.
