Steelers' DeCastro placed on reserve/injured list

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed David DeCastro on the reserve/injured, designated for return list, making him eligible to return in Week 9.

DeCastro, the Steelers' first-round pick in the NFL draft, suffered a knee injury in the third preseason game. He was supposed to help protect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as part of the team's offensive line.

To replace him on the roster, the team signed second-year free-agent cornerback DeMarcus Van Dyke to a one-year deal. Van Dyke was originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami. He ran the fastest time at the 2011 scouting combine with a 4.25 40-yard dash.

Van Dyke was part of the final draft class for late owner Al Davis.
