Stars 4, Wolves 1

CEDAR PARK, Texas -- The Chicago Wolves could not carry over momentum from their season-opening win, falling to the Texas Stars 4-1 on Saturday night at the Cedar Park Center.

Center Travis Morin had a big night for the Stars (1-0-0-0) with four points (two goals, two assists).

Morin played a critical role in Texas' first two goals, receiving the primary assist on both, before adding two insurance goals later in the game.

Chicago (1-1-0-0) had opportunities but could not figure out Texas goaltender Jack Campbell (1-0-0), who turned away 18 of the 19 shots he faced.

Right winger Colton Sceviour and defenseman Maxime Fortunus scored the first two goals for Texas.

Sceviour found the net 10 minutes into the game with a tap-in on a cross-ice pass from Morin. Fortunus added his goal in the second period on a power play with a blast from the point through traffic.

Morin registered his first goal in the second period on a two-on-one breakaway, beating Wolves goaltender Matt Climie top-shelf. Climie (0-1-0) made 34 saves in the loss.

Defenseman Jani Hakanpaa scored Chicago's only goal just over a minute later when he deflected a shot from Corey Locke past Campbell.

Locke has two points in his first two games in a Wolves uniform.

Morin rounded out the scoring in the third period. Starting from behind the net, he caught his own rebound from a wraparound attempt and placed a shot in the top corner.
