CEDAR PARK, Texas -- After consistently being a strength this season for the Chicago Wolves, the team's power play was its downfall Friday night in a 2-1 loss to the Texas Stars at the Cedar Park Center.

It was a goaltender's duel as Chicago's Jake Allen faced Texas' Jack Campbell. Allen made 24 stops as the Stars edged the Wolves for the second time this season.

Following a fast-paced opening period, the Wolves (12-11-0-2) found themselves in trouble in the second frame as they took three consecutive penalties in four minutes. Chicago could not shut down the AHL's top power-play team, surrendering two goals to Texas (15-8-2-2) during the stretch.

The Stars capitalized on their first man-advantage quickly, potting the opening goal of the game at 9:14. Left winger Mike Hedden fired a shot from the blue line through traffic to score top-shelf.

After killing off the second penalty, Chicago took a bench minor for too many men on the ice and was again victimized by the Stars' power play. Center Travis Morin picked up a deflection from the faceoff dot and beat Allen to the glove side at 13:37.

Wolves defenseman Jani Hakanpaa broke the shutout for Chicago by scoring at 12:37 of the final period. Hakanpaa took a pass from left winger Chris Porter and whipped a shot past Campbell, but the Wolves were unable to find the equalizer before the final buzzer sounded.

Allen fell to 10-7-2. Campbell remained a perfect 4-0-0 on the season while making 27 saves.
