Stanford coach David Shaw has promoted offensive line coach/run-game coordinator Mike Bloomgren to offensive coordinator, the school.
He will replace Pep Hamilton, who left to become the offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts, reuniting him with former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
Bloomgren's official title will be "Andrew Luck Director of Offense/Offensive Coordinator," which is an endowed position by the former Stanford quarterback. He will continue to serve as offensive line coach.
"I'm very excited about elevating Mike Bloomgren," Shaw said in a statement. "He was the only choice. We didn't interview anybody else, and we didn't want to interview anyone else. Mike has done an outstanding job with our offensive line and run game, though he's more than an offensive line coach. He understands our offense and how diverse we need to be to attack defenses."
In other moves, Mike Sanford, who is the recruiting coordinator, will also serve quarters/wide receivers coach and Tavita Pritchard will from defensive assistant to running backs coach.
