Stanford has ruled defensive tackle Terrence Stephens ineligible for the Jan. 1 Rose Bowl game against Wisconsin because of a secondary violation of NCAA rules regarding his rental of off-campus housing. The university made the announcement Friday in a release. It offered no additional details. Stephens had missed the Cardinal's wins over UCLA in their past two games, including the Pac-12 championship, because of what the school called a "personal matter." The senior had 10 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in seven starts this season. He is considered a strong run stopper for Stanford's defense.
