Stamkos, Kessel, Kesler named 'Three Stars'

Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos, Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Phil Kessel and Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler were named the NHL's "Three Stars" for the week.

Stamkos tied for the league lead with seven points (three goals and four assists) in helping the Lightning win three games. He had two goals and two assists in a 6-5 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. He also had an assist in a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, and a goal and an assist in a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

Kessel scored a league-high five goals. He recorded his fourth career hat trick, including the game-winning goal, in a 4-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. He added a goal in a 5-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday, and had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.

Kesler had four goals and two assists in helping the Canucks win three straight. He had a goal and an assist in two straight games: in a 5-4 overtime win over the New York Islanders on Tuesday and in a 3-2 shootout victory over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. He followed that with two goals, including the overtime winner, in a 3-2 triumph over the St. Louis Blues on Friday.
