The SportsXchange

The San Antonio Spurs announced Saturday that point guard Tony Parker is expected to miss approximately four weeks with a Grade 2 left ankle sprain.

An MRI taken confirmed Parker's injury.

Parker was driving for a layup 4 minutes into the third quarter of Friday night's game against the visiting Sacramento Kings and landed awkwardly on his left ankle. He was helped off the court by teammates.

After the 130-102 win, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said that Parker would be "out a while." He scored 13 points and had seven assists in just over 25 minutes.

Parker closed out February averaging 26.1 points and 8.3 assists and shooting 54 percent from the field. For the season, Parker is averaging 21.0 points, 7.6 assists and is shooting 53.3 percent.
