KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City signed Chance Myers to a new contract, and the talented defender joined the club in Arizona on Thursday to begin training camp.
Myers will be entering his seventh season with the club, making him the second-longest tenured player on the roster. He's been Sporting KC's starting right back the last three seasons. Terms of the new deal were not disclosed.
Myers teamed with Matt Besler, Aurelien Collin and Seth Sinovic to form a back line that led MLS in fewest goals the past two seasons. Sporting KC is 29-7-8 when those four are in the starting lineup.
Earlier this month, Myers was called up for the U.S. men's national team's training camp for the first time.
