Sporting Kansas City's persistent pressure finally paid off in a 1-0 home win over D.C. United on Friday.
Claudio Bieler scored 89th minute. Soony Saad intercepted a weak pass by Marcos Sánchez, nutmegged Marcelo Saragosa, and laid a low cross into the box. Bieler turned it past Bill Hamid for his fourth goal in six games.
The host side had created the better chances. Sporting KC held over 60 percent of possession and fired off 14 shots to D.C.'s four. Kansas City also crossed 22 times from open play. United crossed twice.
