CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Marland Smith had 20 points to lead five Southeast Missouri players scoring in double figures in an 85-68 victory over SIU-Edwardsville on Thursday night.
Nick Niemczyk added 17 points, Michael Porter 14, Leon Powell 13 and Tyler Stone 10 for the Redhawks (9-8, 4-1 Ohio Valley). One of the nation's top shooting teams, Southeast Missouri made 32 of 57 (56.1 percent) attempts from the floor.
SIU-Edwardsville trailed 67-61 when it went cold, enabling the Redhawks to go on an 12-0 run. Marcus Brister converted a three-point play, Porter delivered a dunk and 3-pointer, and Smith made four free throws during a 4:07 stretch that gave Southeast Missouri an 18-point cushion with three minutes remaining.
Mark Yelovich had 13 points and Derian Shaffer 12 for the Cougars.
