Sources: Rasual Butler could head to Bulls after release from Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have agreed to release veteran forward Rasual Butler, allowing him to sign with a contender for the playoffs, agent Andy Miller told Yahoo! Sports.

The Raptors' release of Butler could clear the way for him to rejoin the Chicago Bulls, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Butler spent the 2010-11 season with Chicago.

Butler was no longer part of the Raptors' plans for the rest of the season, and they will grant him a release by Friday's deadline for players to be waived and eligible to sign with teams for the playoffs.

Butler, 32, started 14 of the Raptors' 34 games this season, averaging 3.2 points. Butler averages 8.2 points for his career, shooting nearly 36 percent from 3-point range. Butler has played with five teams in his 10-year career: the Miami Heat, New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, Bulls and Raptors.
