Sources: Thunder close to acquiring Nets' Brook Lopez for package that includes Reggie Jackson

The Brooklyn Nets are closing on completion of a deal to send center Brook Lopez to the Oklahoma City Thunder for a package that includes guard Reggie Jackson, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

With the Nets committed to moving Jarrett Jack and ultimately paying Jackson as a frontline starting NBA point guard, Jackson has expressed enthusiasm about the deal to Brooklyn, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

As a restricted free agent this summer, the Nets needed to know that Jackson, 24, wants to have a long-term parternship with them.

The Nets and Thunder are discussing a deal that would include center Kendrick Perkins, forward Perry Jones and Jackson joining the Nets, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

There are several more moving parts in Nets-Thunder trade talks, league sources said.

Minnesota and Philadelphia are part of a broader possible deal, league sources said. The Nets are trying to persuade Kevin Garnett to accept a deal to the Timberwolves, bringing them back Thaddeus Young. The Nets and Timberwolves are still awaiting Garnett's decision about waiving his no-trade clause.

One proposed extension of the deal would include the Nets sending Jack to the Washington Wizards, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Nets are committed to turning the team over to Jackson, which is what it would take to get him to make a long-term commitment. The major reason he wants out of Oklahoma City is his desire to be a starter in the NBA. Deron Williams would continue to be used in a reserve role for the Nets.

Jackson turned down a four-year, $48 million extension with the Thunder, and it is believed that it could take something closer to Eric Bledoe’s $14 million annual salary with the Suns to procure him, league sources said.

The Thunder have long been intrigued with Lopez, who could play a significant role in making a push for the playoffs and a Western Conference title this season. Talks between Brooklyn and Oklahoma City on Lopez broke down several weeks ago.

Jackson requested a trade out of Oklahoma City, Yahoo Sports reported Wednesday.
