Sources: Damian Lillard won’t play in Olympics

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard won't play for Team USA in the Rio Olympic games this summer as he continues to rehab from plantar fasciitis, league sources told The Vertical.

Lillard had been leaning toward not playing in the Olympics because of ongoing treatment on his foot, which was injured during the regular season. He had planned to wait to make a decision because of further foot treatment, but was notified of Team USA's urgency to fill its roster, sources said.

Lillard averaged 25.1 points, 6.8 assists and four rebounds per game last season, leading the Blazers to the Western Conference semifinals.
