The lights went out in the third quarter of Super Bowl XLVII because of a faulty electrical relay device.
Entergy Corp said today it has determined that device failed and that is why there was a 34-minute delay during the game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The device has been removed, according to the Reuters report, and the company is considering replacement equipment.
"While some further analysis remains, we believe we have identified and remedied the cause of the power outage and regret the interruption that occurred during what was a showcase event for the city and state," Charles Rice, president and chief executive officer of Entergy New Orleans, said in a statement.
