Source: TE Michael Hoomanawanui, Pats agree on extension

Tight end Michael Hoomanawanui and the New England Patriots have reached an agreement on a two-year extension, a league source told Yahoo Sports on Monday.

The Patriots' depth problems at tight end – notably the loss of Rob Gronkowski to injury – pressed Hoomanawanui into action last season, where he had 12 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown.

Hoomanawanui started 10 of the 13 games he appeared in for the 12-4 Patriots.
