The Sooruz Lacanau Pro got back underway on Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Lacanau, France. Despite a midday delay, the surfers were able to complete three massive rounds of surfing. Here's a quick rundown on some of the results:

Round 16 Results

Round 16 of the Sooruz Lacanau Pro was filled with righteous right-handers and luscious lefts. The surfers made the most of them too. Surf fans got to witness commanding turns, astronomical aerials and all-around top notch surfing from everyone involved. The highest surf heat score of the round was captured by surfer Tanner Gudauskas (USA) during his Heat 2 matchup against Glenn Hall (IRL), Leonardo Neves (BRA) and Wiggolly Dantas (BRA). Gudauskas won the surf heat with 14.60 points.

Quarterfinals Results

The incredible display of surfing skill continued well into the quarterfinals on Saturday. If you ask me, Jack Freestone (AUS) and Filipe Toledo (BRA) each looked positively unassailable. Together they delivered some of the best wave scores and surf heat scores of the round.

One of my favorite maneuvers was Jack Freestone's air-reverse. He launched himself high into the air, cleanly executed the spin and landed with precision. As a surf fan, you couldn't ask for a better display of surfing skill. It earned him 9.50 points and ultimately knocked Tanner Gudauskas (USA) out of the event. Jack Freestone (AUS) won the surf heat with 14.50 points. It was the 2nd highest surf heat score of the round.

The highest surf heat score of the round went to Filipe Toledo (BRA) during his Heat 3 matchup against Mitch Crews (AUS). Both surfers opened up the heat by posting low scores. Then Toledo seemingly slapped on his Superman suit and took to the skies. He fired off a stunning 8.83 point ride that sent surfer Mitch Crews scrambling. Crews eventually answered back in style. In the waning moments of the heat, he delivered a dramatic 9 point ride. Unfortunately for Crews, it wasn't enough to overtake the Brazilian Superhero. Filipe Toledo won the surf heat with 16.26 points.

What's Next?

The Sooruz Lacanau Pro's remaining surf heats are expected to kick off at 2 p.m. CEST on Sunday, August 19, 2012. Heat 1 is slated to feature surfers Glenn Hall (IRL) and Jack Freestone (AUS). Surfer Filipe Toledo (BRA) is anticipated to surf against Dion Atkinson (AUS) in Heat 2. Personally, I'll be rooting for Glenn Hall and Filipe Toledo. I would love to see them surf against each other in the final. I think that it would make for an electrifying surf heat. Whether or not I'll get my wish remains to be seen. One thing is for certain though. Surf fans will be able to watch all the nail-biting action unfold via the Sooruz Lacanau Pro's website.
