Snoop Dogg expresses interest in investing in Celtic

Snoop Dogg's love for soccer has been well documented, but the iconic rapper may take that love one step further by investing in one of the world's most storied clubs.

With Celtic's UEFA Champions League victory over Barcelona serving as inspiration, Snoop Dogg told Scottish media that he would be interested in investing enough money to become a board member at the Parkhead club.

“I got a lot of interest in soccer. It’s not a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in sports teams but it is a new thing for hip hop stars to invest in soccer teams," Snoop Dogg told the Daily Record (UK). "I know Barcelona are a big deal, and [the win] shows Celtic are a big deal as well.

"I see how passionate Celtic fans are about their team, and I could see myself making an investment if any of the board wanted to sell. I don't need to run a soccer club but enough of a percentage to get me on the board so I can be heard."

Snoop Dogg reportedly added that he wanted "to bring a bit of Snoop to things" and that "the boxes at Celtic would never be the same once I have hosted a party there."

His favorite Celtic player appears to be Greek international Georgios Samaras, someone who Snoop Dogg says needs to be in form for the Bhoys to make a deep run in the Champions League.

“I like Samaras a lot," Snoop Dogg said. "He looks like a proper athlete and is a pretty dangerous player. If we are to go far in Europe, he needs to play well.”

Celtic boss Neil Lennon appears to be on board with any involvement Snoop Dogg would have, but he did have one caveat.

"It would be interesting if he did put money in," Lennon said. "As long as I got invited to one of his parties, it would be OK."
