HAMILTON - Sam Giguere is finally a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The five-foot-11, 218-pound receiver signed with the CFL club on Wednesday. The Ticats selected Giguere in the first round, eighth overall, of the 2008 CFL Canadian college draft but the Sherbrooke, Que., native has spent the last three seasons in the NFL.
Giguere signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts prior to the 2008 season and spent most of the next two seasons on the club's practice roster. He appeared in one game, returning five kickoffs for 122 yards.
Giguere joined the New York Giants in October of 2010 and spent the remainder of that season on the practice roster before being released during last year's training camp.
Giguere played collegiately at Sherbrooke, registering 94 catches for 1,950 yards and 17 TDs over his three seasons. He was named a first-team all-Canadian in 2007.
"We're thrilled to add Samuel to our team," Hamilton head coach and director of football operations George Cortez said in a statement. "He's a very talented receiver who upgrades our offence and provides our roster with another great Canadian player.
"We're excited to see Samuel contribute in Hamilton this season and beyond."
