'She's Got the Whole Package' Says Dana White About Ronda Rousey: Fan Reaction

On Showtime's "All Access Ronda Rousey", UFC president, Dana White opens the show by saying, "Everything you need in a fighter, she has--yet she's a woman and she's beautiful. The Ronda Rousey package is different from any other package we've ever seen...I will not miss a Ronda Rousey fight ever. I'm a Ronda Rousey fan." video

Showtime Sports tweeted Dana's comments, "Big statement from @DanaWhite - 'In the next ten years, if there's a woman in the octagon, it's probably going to be Ronda Rousey.'

I'm marking August 8th, 2012, as the day the MMA world turned serious attention to female MMA fighters. More specifically, MMA fans (and some casual on-lookers) heard it straight from the dream-maker himself, UFC President Dana White, that MMA fans are willing to watch women fight (someday) in the UFC Octagon.

For those of you who are new to this story, Dana White's previous comments (of a year ago) were mostly the swear word equivalent of snorts, snuffles and guffaws when female MMA fighters were mentioned.

Female fighters needed a catalyst to continue the upward drive towards building a base of women skillful enough in the various arts making up MMA to attract and keep a sophisticated fan base interested in watching them fight. Strikeforce champion, Ronda Rousey, provides rocket boosts--seems like--on a daily basis providing her with a "meteoric rise to the top".

Ronda delighted fans during her visit to the "Conan" show with her comments, TeamCoCo tweeted a link to her appearance on the show, " MMA Champ @RondaRousey On Sex Before Matches http:// bit.ly/NHF2N1 ".

"UFC Ultimate Insider" started off the week tweeting a link to an interview with Ronda hosted by Jon Anik. "Oh, you don't want to watch a clip about Ronda Rousey and her meteoric rise to the top? That's what we thought, Enjoy! http://youtu.be/tRd-NzmPz9k".

Bas Rutten, former MMA champion and currently host of AXSTV's "Inside MMA" tweeted a reminder to fans, "Ronda Rousey tonight on Conan O'Brien, this is gonna be awesome!"

Shannon Knapp, co-founder of newly formed all-female fight organization, Invicta Fighting Championship, tweeted a reminder about the Strikeforce Rousey vs Tate event scheduled for August 18, "10 more days! I am so excited for these fights. Invicta FC fans please support".

Regarding her upcoming title defense against former Strikeforce champion, Sarah Kaufman, Strikeforce tweeted her response to a question about trash-talking, "Ronda on lack of trash talk: 'Sarah seems pretty cool. I'm not going to make up stuff'."

Karen Bryant from MMAHeat (and most recently seen on Fuel TV's "UFC Tonight") tweeted this comment from a Strikeforce conference call, "I was raised to be good enough to win every match twice on a bad day." @RondaRousey quote from today's # Strikeforce call."

BJJ trainer, Eddie Bravo tweeted a link to Ronda training in his gym, "@RondaRousey getting her rubber on last night at 10pHQ http://twitvid.com/1KKMK".

It seems to me, there's no stopping the Ronda train whether she wins or loses against Sarah Kaufman on August 18th. Sarah Kaufman will get her chance to hand Ronda her first professional loss. This is going to be an exciting fight to watch.
