Shattenkirk the PP Specialist

The Tuesday Dose looks at the Capitals' win and the injury to Sidney Crosby that may turn the tide in the series

Kevin Shattenkirk's incredible scoring pace was slowed due to an injury. He hasn't played since Feb. 1 because of an abdominal ailment, but there are only three defensemen with more than his 24 power play points. Keith Yandle (27), Mark Streit (26), Erik Karlsson (25) all surpassed Shattenkirk while he was injured, while Kris Letang moved into a tie with the St. Louis defender. The Blues have scored 33 power play goals when Shattenkirk has been on the ice and 60% of his total offense has come on the man advantage (4 goals, 20 assists). Last season, he produced 26 of his 45 points on the power play. He could be back in the lineup soon and the Blues will get a boost when they have the extra man when he returns.
