Serie A Preview: Inter - Roma

Zanetti, Silvestre, Ranocchia, Nagatomo
Guarin, Gargano, Cambiasso
Palacio, Sneijder

Piris, Burdisso, Castan, Balzaretti
Marquinho, De Rossi, Pjanic
Lamela, Destro, Totti

Inter will look to follow on from its 3-0 away win at Pescara last Sunday by naming a near unchanged side for the match with Roma.

The only change Andrea Stramaccioni may consider making is bringing in Rodrigo Palacio for Antonio Cassano, after the Italian international exerted himself in the Nerazzurri's Europa League tie against Vasuli on Thursday.

The Milanese giant is still without Samir Handanovic, Dejan Stankovic, Ricky Alvarez and Gabi Mudingayi, but can rely on the talents of Luca Castellazzi in goal, Walter Gargano and Freddy Guarin in midfield and Wesley Sneijder in the hole behind the strikers.

Meanwhile, Roma is sweating on the fitness of Michael Bradley, and could bring in Brazilian midfielder Marquinho for his first start.

Zdenek Zeman may make one more, unforced, change and bring in Mattia Destro for Pablo Osvaldo. The young forward's tireless attitude could be the catalyst for Erik Lamela and Francesco Totti to make their mark on the contest.

Other than that, it should be the same XI that drew 2-2 with Catania last Sunday, as the Czech coach looks for his first win as new Giallorossi boss.

  • Inter leads by 69 wins to 44 against Roma in Serie A, with the two teams drawing 45 times.

  • The Nerazzurri have won more games against the capital club than any other league opponent.

  • Under Andrea Stramaccioni, the San Siro club has only failed to score once, and it averages 2.3 goals per game.

  • Roma has scored 199 goals and conceded 260 against Inter -  higher tallies than against any other Serie A team.

  • The Giallorossi have not won away at San Siro in five attempts.

  • Francesco Totti completed the joint-most dribbles in Italy's top flight last weekend, with six.
