The Ottawa Senators moved to fill a void on their roster left by the loss of defenseman Filip Kuba in unrestricted free agency by acquiring defenseman Marc Methot from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Nick Foligno on Sunday.
Methot, 27, had seven goals, 44 assists and 208 penalty minutes in six seasons with the Blue Jackets. He has three years left on his contract at $3 million per season. He played in 46 games this past season with one goal and six assists.
Foligno, 24, scored 61 goals and had 87 asissts in five seasons with the Senators, including 15 goals and a career-best 47 points this past season
