While it's easy to imagine your favorite celebrity probably doesn't have the time to check their Instagram feed on a regular basis, it turns out they might just be more connected to social media than you'd think - for better or for worse.

During an interview with the New York Times about her upcoming Netflix series Thirteen Reasons Why, executive producer Selena Gomez was asked to talk about how social media has evolved over the course of her career and how this shift has affected her. In response, the singer ended up revealing quite a bit about her social media habits, before admitting she's happiest when she isn't so plugged in.

"When I was on Wizards of Waverly Place, we didn’t have social media really," she said. "Twitter had just begun. Every Friday, I’d get to do a live taping in front of all these little kids and make their life. That’s when I was the happiest."

"Then, as I got older, I watched it go from zero to a hundred," she continued.

When asked if she ever dares to read the comments on her Instagram, where she has 114 million followers, Selena admits that it's hard not to.

"You can’t avoid it sometimes," she said. "I delete the app from my phone at least once a week. You fixate on the [negative] ones. They’re not like, ‘You’re ugly.’ It’s like they want to cut to your soul. Imagine all the insecurities that you already feel about yourself and having someone write a paragraph pointing out every little thing - even if it’s just physical."

You hear that, y'all? In case you need another reminder not to be a bully on social media, Selena is here to deliver it.

Thirteen Reason Why hits Netflix on March 31.
