MLS is helping fans celebrate Halloween with its second annual pumpkin carving contest. Everyone is being encouraged to submit a Twitter entry for a chance to win a jersey. The best pumpkin will be featured on MLSsoccer.com, and the fan will be able to select any jersey from MLSgear.com. Several entries have already been proudly retweeted by MLS on Twitter.
The MLS Pumpkin Carving Contest Rules
The only way to enter the MLS second annual pumpkin carving contest is to submit a picture on Twitter. The rules require fans to follow Major League Soccer on Twitter, add the #MLSPumpkin hashtag to a tweet, describe the pumpkin and attach an original picture. However, MLS does not limit the number of entries per person, so multiple submissions are allowed.
The winner will have the chance to select a jersey from MLSgear.com and have the pumpkin featured on MLSsoccer.com. Only one fan will win based on the most original and creative pumpkin carving that is connected to Major League Soccer. The contest ends on Oct. 30 at 1:59 p.m. EST, and the winner will be notified on the same day. It is crucial for fans to follow MLS on Twitter because notifications will be sent through direct messages, and the winner will only have three days to respond.
Previous Winners and Current Entries
In 2011, Joel Fandel and Daniel Emrazian won the MLS pumpkin carving contest. This year, MLS will only be giving an award to one winner. Fandel submitted an intricate carving of David Beckham's head while Emrazian entered a pumpkin dedicated to Real Salt Lake and Javier Morales. Both of their entries were detailed and realistic creations.
MLS has been retweeting some of the entries for the 2012 contest with the Columbus Crew pumpkin as one of the most recent features. A Philadelphia Union fan has submitted a DOOP pumpkin, and a Sounders FC fan has attempted to carve the team's logo. The L.A. Galaxy are even providing a template that can be printed off to create the carving with additional instructions for how to do it. Fans still have time to enter the MLS second annual pumpkin carving contest.
