Sebastian Kehl insists that Borussia Dortmund are not about to "raise the white flag" any time soon and will instead continue to do their utmost to turn their season around.
Last year's Champions League finalists have been struggling to find their best form in recent months, and they have fallen 14 points behind leaders Bayern Munich following Saturday's 2-2 draw against Augsburg.
Nevertheless, Kehl remains upbeat and has stressed the team will keep on fighting in the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign.
"Life goes on. We're not going to tear ourselves apart and start pointing fingers. We're certainly not going to raise the white flag and give up either," Kehl told the official Bundesliga website. "It's not been easy for us this season, but we're not going to hide and we won't go looking for excuses either. We'll take the situation as it is."
Kehl also had his say on the situation of Jakub Blaszczykowski, who was diagnosed with a ruptured cruciate ligament in his left knee on Sunday, and admitted that Dortmund will miss the Poland winger.
"He's incredibly important for us, but we've got to learn how to cope without him. Unfortunately, injuries are part of the game," Kehl said.
BVB resumes Bundesliga action away against Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday.
