Sebastian Grazzini is Nominated for Goal of the Week: MLS Fan View

MLS has nominated Sebastian Grazzini for the Goal of the Week on May 28 for his performance at the FC Dallas game. The Fire beat Dallas 2-1 with Grazzini's goal as one of the highlights of the game, and he definitely deserves the recognition. MLS will close voting for the AT&T Goal of the Week on May 31 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Recognizing Sebastian Grazzini's Goal During the Game

Although the Chicago Fire beat FC Dallas on May 23, they lost to the Columbus Crew on May 26. Grazzini's absence from the match with the Crew was easy to notice. On May 23, his goal helped the team secure the win and earned the nomination for the AT&T Goal of the Week. In the 45th minute, Marco Pappa's pass allowed Sebastian Grazzini to make the goal that Kevin Hartman had no chance of stopping.

Grazzini has shown that he is capable of taking successful shots if the right opportunity is present. However, he has been scrutinized recently for frequent diving during the games, and it is taking away from his accomplishments. During the May 20 game against Portland, he received a yellow card for simulation. Sebastian Grazzini has been fouled legitimately this season, but he is also guilty of diving on several occasions. Unfortunately, the inconsistency from referees and MLS standards contribute to the problem.

    AT&T Goal of the Week

Sebastian Grazzini is facing competition from Emilio Renteria, Juan Pablo Angel, Patrice Bernier and C.J. Sapong. MLS allows fans to vote online or by texting through 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31. The weekly contest recognizes the best goals in previous games from five players, and the winner is announced every Friday.

Chicago's Previous Winner of the AT&T Goal of the Week

The Chicago Fire have already won one of the contests for Goal of the Week this season. Marco Pappa won in week 8 for his goal during the April 28 game against the Seattle Sounders FC. Although the Fire lost to the Sounders 2-1, Pappa's corner kick was still recognized. Now, Sebastian Grazzini has the chance to earn a similar honor.
