COMMENTARY | Everyone around the NFL knew the Seattle Seahawks were capable of being a dominant team. They finally showed that potential last weekend.
The Seahawks looked great in all three phases of the game while blowing out the Atlanta Falcons 33-10 in the Georgia Dome. Power rankers around the league took notice, as the Seahawks are in the top 3 across the board.
The Seahawks not only won in a convincing fashion, but were also moved up by some due to the Indianapolis Colts being destroyed 38-8 by the St. Louis Rams. With a home date with the 2-7 Minnesota Vikings upcoming followed by a bye, Seattle should be able to maintain its position for a couple of weeks.
Frank Schwab moves the Seahawks up to second, only trailing the Denver Broncos. He says "Whatever happened against St. Louis and Tampa Bay might have just been a weird fluke…and they won both games." As skeptical as a lot of us were after last week, it's hard to disagree.

The Colts were already far below the Seahawks in Brian Billick's rankings, but Seattle jumps the San Francisco 49ers to move into third place. Billick notes that the Seahawks have won 14 of 15 games and their road win total of 5 is already two better than last year. That is why they are the team to beat in the NFC.

Again, the Seahawks stay put in second, this time behind the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Mike Florio says "this could be [Seattle's] last week in the No. 2 spot," as the Chiefs schedule gets tougher. Of course, the Broncos might jump Seattle with a win over the Chiefs this week.

The biggest jump for the Seahawks comes in NFL.com's rankings. They move up two spots, but only to third. Elliot Harrison says the dominating performance against the Falcons establishes Seattle as favorites in the NFC.
The Seahawks won't necessarily move up with a win next week over the Vikings, but since the Chiefs and Broncos play each other, there will be some rearranging in the top 5. It would help Seattle's cause if they put together another dominating performance against a lesser opponent.
