Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Seahawks WR Harvin to test hip

The SportsXchange

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said wide receiver Percy Harvin would go through sprints Monday that would help guide the team's decision

Carroll said Harvin was "day-to-day-to-day" until further notice and the Seahawks remain hesitant to place a timetable on his return.

If Harvin can reach top speed and performs without setbacks in agility drills Monday, he will likely practice with the team this week. If not, Carroll and Seahawks can return to wait-and-see mode.

Harvin had an MRI exam last week, to make sure his surgically repaired hip was healing as expected from Aug. 1 labrum surgery.

Carroll is trying to temper his excitement since declaring more than two weeks ago -- on Oct. 14 -- that Harvin was "really, really close." When following up on those comments this week, Carroll hedged slightly.

"He's getting close, but not close enough," Carroll said Friday.

Harvin must be activated by Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings or else he will not be eligible to play this season. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list with a torn labrum in his hip at the beginning of the season and returned to practice following the Seahawks' Oct. 17 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

He has been considered day-to-day since then.

Seattle's need for Harvin to return increased after it lost wide receiver Sidney Rice for the season because of a torn ACL. Rice was placed on injured reserve last Wednesday.
