Seahawks LT Okung had foot surgery

Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Russell Okung had foot surgery and will be out of offseason workouts until he recovers, coach Pete Carroll said Friday.

Okung missed half of last season with a toe injury. Carroll said at the NFL Scouting Combine that he hoped Okung would avoid surgery but he was seen at an Oklahoma State spring practice wearing a walking boot.

Carroll believes Okung will be ready by training camp.

"Russell will be fine, and it's just something we had to do when the season was over," Carroll said, according to the Tacoma News Tribune. "He had a few things, so we've taken care of it. We know we'll have him back for training camp. Maybe a little sooner than that."

Carroll said Alvin Bailey will fill in at left tackle until Okung returns. Second-round pick Justin Britt is expected to play at right tackle.

Okung has missed 16 games over the past four seasons.
