Schmelzer to miss Champions League quarterfinals

Borussia Dortmund has confirmed that defender Marcel Schmelzer will be missing for up to a month with a groin injury, ruling him out of the Champions League quarterfinals.

The left-back sustained the injury in Dortmund's 2-1 defeat to Zenit in the last 16 on Wednesday, with BVB qualifying for the quarterfinals 5-4 on aggregate.

It is the second time this season that BVB has been without Schmelzer after the 26-year-old missed three weeks of action prior to Christmas with a calf strain.
