Schallibaum out as coach of Montreal Impact

Montreal Impact head coach Marco Schaillbaum won't be on the sidelines for his team's next two matches after receiving additional punishment Friday following an incident last weekend that saw him and his D.C. United counterpart, Ben Olsen, ejected from a match.

Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber handed the Impact boss an extra game suspension and an additional $5,000 fine on top of his automatic one-game ejection ban for a sideline scuffle with Olsen in the 74th minute of Montreal's 2-1 victory over D.C. at Stade Saputo on Aug. 17.

Olsen, who was also sent to the locker room following the incident, had his suspension rescinded and will be allowed at field level for United's home game against Toronto FC on Saturday.

As for Schallibaum, Garber dished out the added disciplinary measures "for his repeated misbehavior," according to the league's announcement. The incident marked the fourth time that Schallibaum was forced to be suspended, as he had been sent off two other times and earned a retroactive ban for leaving his technical area on another occasion. The coach, whose nickname is The Swiss Volcano for his volatile nature, will be banned from the sidelines for Montreal's clash with visiting Houston on Aug. 24 as well as the Impact trip to Philadelphia a week later.

The Impact currently sit third in the Eastern Conference, with Philadelphia and Houston occupying the next two spots in the standings.
