Sato qualifies first in Houston

Takuma Sato qualified first for the Shell & Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston Saturday at MD Anderson Cancer Center Speedway at Reliant Park.
Sato lapped the 1.634-mile track in 01:00.4535 with an average speed of 97.305 mph.
He beat out Will Power (01:01.1524, 96.192), Scott Dixon (01:00.6057, 97.060), Sebastien Bourdais (01:01.4911, 95.663) and Simon Pagenaud (01:00.6184, 97.040).
The race started at 2:40 p.m ET Saturday.
