SAN JOSE -- Not even a game of keepaway could help the hapless Orlando Predators against San Jose SaberCats on Friday night in the Arena Football League.

Despite owning possession for nearly 40 minutes in a 60-minute game, Orlando couldn't convert it into enough points to matter as it fell to an AFL-worst 1-11 with a 51-34 defeat at HP Pavilion.

Quarterback Chris Leak threw for 316 yards and five touchdowns, but he completed just 25 of 47 passes and couldn't get his team into the end zone during the second half until hitting Jarvis Williams with a 10-yard scoring strike with five minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Predators canceled that accomplishment by allowing a touchdown on the ensuing onside kick, as the SaberCats' Mark Lewis picked it up and rumbled 8 yards for the final score.

It was the sixth straight loss for Orlando, which fell to 0-7 away from Amway Center. The Predators committed three turnovers, including a damaging third-quarter interception by Leak that Joe Sykes returned 42 yards for a touchdown that upped the lead to 45-27.

Williams finished with 100 yards and three touchdowns on nine receptions, while Glen Fox notched 125 yards and a score on nine catches. T.T. Toliver added 78 yards and a touchdown on five catches but also lost a fumble in the third quarter on the San Jose 1-yard line.

Mark Grieb was 20-for-30 for 271 yards and four scores for the SaberCats (9-4), who won their first game since the death of two-way starter Johnie Kirton on May 29.

The Predators return home for a division matchup next Friday night against Tampa Bay.
