After more than 8,000 Niner Faithful fans came out to the event last year, the San Francisco 49ers will host the second annual "Fan Fest" event on Sunday, August 12 at Candlestick Park. Presented by HP, which is the 49ers technology partner, this family-oriented event will likely last over two hours long. Other information such as the exact on-sale date for tickets and the timeline for Fan Fest events will be released in the coming weeks on 49ers.com.
At last year's inaugural Fan Fest, 49er fans in attendance were able to attend and watch a two-hour practice, tour the stadium, interact with Gold Rush cheerleaders, enjoy food and beverages inside the stadium, visit 49ers partner booths, purchase 49ers merchandise, enjoy live music, and have opportunities to get autographs from current and alumni 49ers players. Only two days after the 49ers host their first exhibition game of the season against the Minnesota Vikings, this open-to-the-public training camp practice will give fans an affordable option to watch the team before the start of the regular season. A limited number of tickets for the event will go on sale sometime in July for $5 with a portion of the proceeds going to the 49ers Foundation and its mission to keep kids "safe, on track and in school."
Coming off an excellent season where they played NFC runner-up to the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, there will be plenty of fan fare for this event. From fans that saw their team taste success for the first time in a decade to locals wishing to spend a Sunday summer at a unique sporting event, this year's Fan Fest is bound to attract a large flock of people. Particularly considering all the construction taking place at the 49ers' Santa Clara headquarters, site of the team's normal training camp practices, diehard fans wishing to watch the team practice in the offseason are not afforded that opportunity this year due to a lack of public-viewing sessions at training camp and a brand new stadium being built in the vicinity.
With much anticipation for the 2012 season, this year's Fan Fest will be another event leading up to the return of regular season action for the 49ers and its fans.
