Keenan Allen had a big day for the offense, but it was not enough to avoid a heartbreaking loss for the Chargers against the Redskins, 30-24, in Landover.
Philip Rivers had a solid day going 29 for 46 with 341 yards passing, two touchdowns and two picks. Robert Griffin III finished 23 for 32 with 291 yards passing, no touchdowns and one pick for the Redskins.
Danny Woodhead ran for 21 yards on seven carries in addition to nine receptions for 77 yards. Allen was a leading receiver, hauling in eight passes for 128 yards with a score.
The San Diego defense buckled, giving up 291 yards passing and 209 rushing while taking back one interception for a touchdown.
Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon could not be contained, putting up 172 receiving yards. Running back Alfred Morris also put together a noteworthy performance with 121 rushing yards and one touchdown.
Next week, the Chargers host the Broncos (7-1) while the Redskins head to Minneapolis to face the Vikings (1-7).
