Ryan Mathews established the ground game, paving the way to a solid victory for the Chargers over the Jaguars, 24-6, in Jacksonville.
Philip Rivers finished with 285 yards on 22 for 26 passing, one touchdown and no interceptions. Chad Henne went 23 of 36 with 318 yards passing, no touchdowns and one pick for the Jaguars.
Mathews was a focal point for the Chargers, running at will on the Jaguars for 110 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown. Eddie Royal caught four balls for 69 yards with a touchdown.
The San Diego defense was the deciding factor in the victory, allowing 78 yards rushing and 275 passing. They harassed Henne and the Jaguars offensive line with an imposing six sacks.
Jaguars wide receiver Mike Brown provided some spark with 120 receiving yards. Wide receiver Cecil Shorts III also had a good game with 80 receiving yards.
Next week, the Chargers travel to Landover to face the Redskins (1-4) while the Jaguars are at home against the 49ers (4-2).
