Samford pulls away to beat Chattanooga 81-70

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Drew Windler scored a career-high 25 points and Samford snapped a six-game losing streak with an 81-70 win over Chattanooga Saturday.

The win was Samford's fourth in the past 23 games in the series.

Raijon Kelly added 19 points, Tyler Hood had 15 and Jeffrey Merritt grabbed 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs (4-12, 1-4 Southern Conference).

Samford scored 25 points off 15 Chattanooga turnovers and held the Mocs to 33.9 percent (20 of 59) shooting from the field. Samford hit 47.1 percent (24 of 51).

Chattanooga overcame a 14-point first half deficit and started the second half on a 16-4 run to tie the game 48-48 with 12:3 2 left. Leading 64-62, Samford went on a 15-6 run over the final 3:08 to seal it.

Omar Wattad had 17 points, Dontay Hampton and Z. Mason each had 11 for the Mocs (9-10, 3-3), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.
