Sam Hurd will plead not guilty using 'several different theories'

National Football Post

Sam Hurd will plead not guilty using “several different theories” when he is arraigned on federal drug charges next Wednesday in Dallas.

Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports that David Kenner, a California-based attorney representing Hurd, said they “look forward to presenting a vigorous defense.”

Hurd faces charges of drug conspiracy and possession of cocaine after he walked out of a Chicago steakhouse allegedly carrying a kilogram of cocaine. He could face 10 years to life in prison on the conspiracy charge and five to 40 years on the possession fine. The Chicago Bears waived Hurd after he was busted.

According to authorities, Hurd said he wanted to start dealing up to 10 kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week.

“We look forward to commencing litigation,” Kenner told Orsborn.
