Saints lose Kyle Wilson for 2016 season
If the New Orleans Saints defense wants to have a drastic turnaround in 2016, they’ll have to do it without one of their veterans in the secondary.
Per NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, cornerback Kyle Wilson is done for the season after suffering a torn labrum:

This comes nearly two weeks after the team found out defensive end Hau’oli Kikaha will likely miss 2016 after he tore his ACL. The Saints have lost two starters and will need all the help they can get to replace both guys.
Though Wilson certainly doesn’t stand out like Keenan Lewis and Delvin Breaux on the cornerback depth chart, his veteran presence was helpful. Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller ranked him as the 78th-best cornerback from last season:
“Kyle Wilson was brought to New Orleans to be a matchup piece for the Saints. He could line up against smaller, quicker receivers and play inside in nickel packages. The Jets drafted him to do the same. Like the Jets, the Saints quickly found out Wilson’s inconsistency with his hands and imprecise feet negated his athleticism too often.”
Wilson had the chance at a fresh start with new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen replacing Rob Ryan, but it appears unlikely, as his contract is set to expire after the 2016 season.
Here’s hoping that Wilson can have a safe and speedy recovery and be on the field in 2017. He isn’t their greatest all-around player, but he does have the heart and incredible work ethic. Wilson deserves at least one more chance to start on a roster next year.
