Saint Louis 56, Richmond 46

Sain Louis' Dwayne Evans scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and the Billikens dominated defensively during a 56-46 victory at Richmond on Saturday.

The Billikens turned the ball over 19 times, but they forced the Spiders into 23.3 percent shooting (10-for-43), including a 3-for-15 effort from 3-point range. Saint Louis also controlled the glass, outrebounding Richmond 42-28.

Cedrick Lindsay had 20 points for Richmond, but 11 of those came at the free-throw line. The Spiders (14-10, 4-5 Atlantic 10) scored half of their points from the stripe, going 23-for-33 at the line.

Saint Louis (18-5, 7-2) led 44-27 when Mike McCall hit a layup with 6:48 to play, but Richmond went on a 13-1 run to cut the margin to five. The Spiders had a couple of chances to come within one possession, but a turnover and a missed Kendall Anthony jumper saw the team come up empty. The Billikens held off the Spiders down the stretch in a foul-plagued finish.

Richmond forward Derrick Williams was back in the lineup after missing the previous nine games with a sprained ankle. He finished with six points and three rebounds.

The Billikens don't play again until a home game next Saturday against Charlotte. Richmond plays at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday.
