Buffalo Sabres coach Ron Rolston was fined for his role in a brawl between his team and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday.
Rolston was disciplined for his player selection and the conduct of his team for the fight that began in third period. Buffalo forward Corey Tropp fought Toronto forward Jamie Devane, and Buffalo forward John Scott instigated against Toronto forward Phil Kessel. The brawl escalated to include the goalies, and Maple Leafs forward Dave Clarkson received a 10-game suspension for leaving the bench.
Referees assigned 211 penalty minutes as a result of the myriad altercations, including three game misconducts.
Toronto won the preseason game 5-3. The teams first meet in the regular season on Nov. 15 in Buffalo.
