Recommendation: Mathews, who missed the first two weeks of the season with a clavicle injury, started in his season debut in Week 3, but has come off the bench in the team's two games since after a fumble in his initial contest. At this point though, Mathews seems ready to officially reclaim the team's starting gig after carrying 12 times for 80 yards in Week 5's game against the Saints, while Jackie Battle carried four times for 10 yards and Ronnie Brown twice for 27 yards in the same game. Given that Mathews is clearly the superior talent among that trio, he figures to hold on to the job going forward, provided he takes good care of the ball.
