Ryan Grant says he is comfortable to play for Redskins

National Football Post

Ryan Grant believes he is ready to roll for the Washington Redskins.

Signed last week to take the place of Roy Helu, who was placed on injured reserve, Grant believes he is up to speed in the offense, enough to play if needed on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

I feel good,” Grant said. “I’ve been coming along. I feel like I’m picking it up just fine. Football is football. It’s just the terminology, really. There are not too many things that they do differently.”

Rookie running back Alfred Morris, the latest find for Redskins coach Mike Shanahan, is fifth in the NFL with 376 yards rushing and he has four touchdowns. So, it’s not known what role there is for Grant at this point. Grant chose the Redskins over an offer from the Chicago Bears in part because the opportunity looked better in Washington.

“The biggest thing with any back when they come in is (pass) protection aspect, just making sure you’re on the same page,” Grant said, according to Maske. “That takes some communication…. I feel comfortable. I’d feel comfortable this week, next week, whatever we do.”
